Pick Yourself Up—self mastery

The external theatre that dances through our shared reality seems to be getting more disturbing and absurd by the minute. The more we pay attention to what is going on in the global arena the more likely it will be that we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, distraught, and/or angry. This focus is disempowering as there is very little we as individuals can do to directly change what is happening on the world stage.

Does this mean that we are victims who must just do our best to ride out the storms? Absolutely not. We are never victims and no matter how wild and choppy the collective waters become, we all have access to the deep still pool of love that sits quietly in our centre. The more we learn to disconnect with outer drama, to focus on our hearts the smoother our journey will become. This core space is our creative portal, our inner reference point and navigation system; this is where our true power lies. On an external level it may seem counterproductive, even selfish, to turn within and ignore the spectacle that looms in our shared reality, however, ultimately it is the key to shifting our personal and collective experience. The more of us who learn to cultivate and ground a high inner frequency the more this frequency will be able to take hold on the planet. All responds to frequency. Low frequency events need low frequency environments to thrive. By raising our personal frequency we create energetic pockets where low frequency can’t take old. These pockets have the ability to affect the surrounding energy, and slowly but surely as the energy of love, beauty, peace and compassion spreads, the less room there will be for low frequency fear, distortion, discord, and hatred.

This month I would recommend starting (if you haven’t already) to be really vigilant about what you allow to emanate from within. Focus on cultivating loving positive thoughts and feelings. If you sense yourself going into judgement, fear, or distress don't admonish yourself or try to push those negative feelings away, instead take a moment to honour and validate these feelings. They are not wrong, rather they are coming from a wounded part of the self that feels disconnected and insecure. When we admonish ourselves or push away feelings we are not healing, and ultimately it will only be a matter of time before similar feelings surface again, and will continue to do so until they are met with the love necessary to melt away the insecurity that drives them.

This month as we head towards the equinox the energies will be supporting deep internal healing of our wounded aspects. So when a judgemental thought, worry, a desire to control others, blame etc. arises, remember to see it for what it really is: a part of ourself that does not feel safe and loved. Take a moment to connect within and actively love the part that expressed a thought rooted in fear. Feel the energy that emanates out when you connect to that part. Does it feel jagged, choppy, contracted, or forceful? Use gentle love to soothe the energy so that it starts to flow smoothly and evenly. Focus on bringing that part into the heart where it can be loved and supported as part of the whole. The heart is where all our aspects from our highest self to our smallest most fragile aspects can connect and align.

Another aspect of self-healing that I feel isin focus this month builds on the concept of self-love that was highlighted through the eclipse corridor of February.

Take the opportunity this month to ensure that your foundation is solid. When our foundation is solid we can move through the world with confidence. It all comes down to self-worth. Do we need outside validation to make us feel worthy? Do we ride a roller coaster of ups and downs that fluctuate depending on how much others value and appreciate us? If we do then we have given away our power and we will struggle to manifest our dreams because we have allowed others to determine our worth. When you can cultivate feelings of peace, self love and self-worth regardless of what is happening externally, or how you perceive others as responding to you, you have taken a major step towards self-mastery.

This month we will benefit from focusing on the Earth star chakra and the soul star chakra. The Earth star chakra is located below your feet grounded in the Earth. When we connect with this chakra we feel more grounded and connected to and supported by Mother Nature. The soul Star chakra is positioned above our head. When we consciously connect with this chakra we feel more allied and aligned with our soul.

Earth Star Chakra Stones: Black or brown stones like smokey quartz, black obsidian, black kyanite, black tourmaline etc.

Soul Star Chakra Stones: White or clear stones like quartz, Herkimer diamonds, selenite, natrolite or white topaz are some of the many stones associated with the Soul Star Chakra.

Heart Chakra Stones: Green and pink stones like, kunzite, rose quartz, jade and emerald are lovely stones to assist us in working with the heart chakra.

Meditation:

Earth Star: Begin by holding one of these crystals, or placing it between your feet and imagine energy moving down through your body, out each of your feet, swirling down to a beautiful star buried in the ground. Begin to focus on your breath. Imagine the out breath carrying old tired energy down to the Earth Star to be returned to and transmuted by the Earth. On the in breath imagine fresh, nurturing energy rising up from the earth star to your feet, filling your physical and energetic bodies.

Soul Star: Repeat the exercise above, but this time hold the selected Earth Star crystal or place it above your head (lying down)and  focus on drawing the energy down from the universe, through your soul (so that it is perfectly calibrated for you) into your physical and energetic body. As you do this tell your soul that you are seeking to feel more aligned with it.

Heart Chakra: The heart chakra is the axis mundi, the meeting point between Heaven and Earth. Once we have activated the earth and soul star chakras we can turn our focus to the heart. The heart has its own intelligence and if we trust and allow the heart to direct the incoming energies it will know exactly where they are needed.

Inner child: A lot of our unresolved wounds sit with our inner child. This month choose a stone that you feel would appeal to your inner child. Place this stone with the heart chakra stone when you do the above meditation. Imagine your inner child being held safely and lovingly in your heart. Keep this stone with you and whenever a feeling of judgement, doubt, criticism or fear surfaces hold the stone to your heart and conjure up the powerful, loving energies that you cultivated during the meditation.

Monthly Dose Report

Love Love Love

January's influx of new energy was very intense and I know many including myself felt a bit all over the place at times. One minute feeling expansive love and relishing bursts of joy, the next swamped in deep sadness, possibly coupled with an overwhelming sense of impending doom and an urge to escape. In order to feel centred and balanced I needed to spend a lot of time meditating and working with my crystal buddies. There were many insights and personal revelations that came to light through the work, as well as a clear, and somewhat uncomfortable view of my weaknesses, shortcomings, and unproductive patterns.

This sets the stage for February. At first glance the obvious area of discord relates to what is occurring in the wider political sphere. There is so much that is broken in the world and when we look at the immensity of it it is easy to feel powerless. However, when I go deeper I see that beneath all the power games there is common drive: a lack of love. This is what I see highlighted for February.

What surfaces for me when I feel into the upcoming month is it is all about love. But it is not about decadent chocolates, and perfect roses, from someone onto whom we've pinned our hopes and dreams, rather it is about the heart of love, the point from which it all begins: self-love. Most of us know that self-love is important and take some conscious steps to honour and care for ourselves, but this month we will be supported (hello eclipse energy!) to go deeper, as deep as we can, to identify and heal any gaps in our personal love essence.

Our capacity for self-love is foundational; it is the essence from which our personal reality flows. The holes and gaps in our personal love frequency manifest as longings, blocks and fears in our outside world. All too often we are blinded to the fact that we hold the key to our own salvation and we search outside ourselves to fill our gaps.

The more we heal our relationship with ourselves the greater our capacity to stand in our power, to access our divine inspiration, and to reach out and love others in a healthy clear way. This is exactly what the world needs right now!

Note: If we feel lonely, disrespected, unseen, or under-appreciated by people around us it is time to stop blaming, and wallowing in feelings of victimhood, it is time to take responsibility for how love manifests in our life. Alternatively if we feel the need to judge, put down, criticize, or manipulate others it is time we stop using others to prop ourselves up and recognize that we are actually projecting our own inner wounds.

Take time this month to go within and identify the internal wounds that haunt us with their external representations. Trying to address any lack of love on the outside will likely only cause us more pain and frustration, the only way to create real transformation is by addressing the source of the problem, which of course lies within. Only once we learn to be our own primary source of love and comfort will we have the foundation necessary to experience true self-actualization, and pure love and connection in our world.

I cannot stress enough how important it feels to address this essential issue this month. We are undergoing a process in which the heart is taking centre stage. As we collectively become more heart focused, the areas that are in need of healing will be highlighted. As I said before love isn't just about chocolate and roses. Love encompasses all: the beautiful, the strong, the delicate, and the ugly, the disenfranchised, the lost and the wounded. It is easy to love the bright shiny parts of ourselves, but this month we need to pay attention to the not so easy to love parts. The parts that we have, along our journey, judged as shameful and not worthy of love; the parts we have tried to hide, not just from others, but from ourselves.

This is not work for the faint hearted. It will require honesty, bravery, and commitment in order to sit with the feelings that hide so deep within that we have almost forgotten they exist. However, though we need to do this work ourselves, for no one else can do it for us, it will be helpful to remember that we are supported. No one is truly alone, we are all part of this amazing universe and the universe is supporting this shift towards personal heart sovereignty. The heart is where we connect to all. As the love frequency increases on the planet everything, without exception, is affected. The more we are able to love, accept, and just be with ourselves, the more comfortable the process will be.

Nature is inherently aligned with the universal flow, and because of this there is little distortion; the new heart aligned energies unfold gracefully where growth is unhindered by human fears and ideals. Taking time to connect with an oasis of wild nature, no matter how big or small, will be very helpful to the healing of our hearts' this month. Through appreciating the raw magnificence of nature we are reminded of same raw magnificence within. Crystals of course are pieces of nature, encoded with pure frequencies that we can use to help us align our energies to the rising frequencies. They are also important for grounding, and as with all healing work, grounding should be a primary aspect of our practice.

Finally I feel it is important to remember that if we feel overwhelmed or stuck in our personal process we should not be afraid to seek assistance. We need to own our process, but we don't need to be martyrs. The universe is supporting this process and the more we can trustingly open our hearts and take advantage of assistance and opportunities that arise, the more we will feel aligned with and supported by the universal flow that is nudging us towards new heights of love, personal sovereignty, and collective healing.

Stones to Assist

Blue Calcite

Blue calcite will be very effective stone to work with this month because of its ability to nurture feelings of self-worth and to help us take responsibility for the creation of our personal reality. It will help us to identify and overcome feelings of self-doubt, low self-esteem and negative self-perception by helping us to see and accept areas where we lack self-acceptance and love.

Kunzite/Rose Quartz

I’m recommending kunzite for its ability to bring in love from the higher dimensions, for its ability to help us to hear the whispering voice of our heart, and because it can help us to remember and feel our connection to the divine. Kunzite has similar properties to rose quartz, only somewhat more intensely focused. Both encourage self-love with a gentle, uplifting energy. If kunzite is not available try working with a good chunk of rose quartz to access the soft supportive love energy that helps to heal old wounds.

Chlorite Quartz

Chlorite quarts is a beautiful healing stone that resonates with the heart chakra and helps to heal and remove wounds and blocks in the heart. It encourages forgiveness and acceptance so that we can let go of the past and move forward. One of the central reasons I chose to include chlorite quartz this month is that it is attuned to the luscious energy of the Nature Kingdom and the heartbeat of the Earth, which when tapped into can feel like a nurturing force that will support our healing work.

Sunstone

I included sunstone because it is such a bright positive stone that can help us to find the strength to delve into dark neglected areas without fear. It is also useful for nourishing independence and self-reliance. Citrine could also be used if sunstone is not available.

Moldavite

For those really ready to go deep moldavite will be a great stone to work with due to its ability to reach deep within and bring to light any inner areas that require healing. It helps us to recognize blocks and release patterns that no longer serve us. It is effective for helping to connect the mind with the heart so they can work in harmony. Moldavite’s ability to encourage compassion for self and others will also prove very useful this month.

Grounding stones (Root Chakra): Apache tears, Smokey Quartz, black tourmaline, garnet etc.

As always grounding stones are be extremely important. When energies are intense they can bring up feelings and trigger wounds that can make us uncomfortable. Grounding stones are excellent for helping to successfully move energy through us, down into the Earth where it can be transmuted, bringing a sense of relief.
This month Apache tears will be very useful to help us draw stagnant, unproductive, toxic energy up into consciousness where it can be healed and or released. They are also really useful for helping us to process grief which an important tool when working on healing the heart.

My personal favorite grounding stone for intense energies is smokey quartz as it also absorbs stress. For those who feel that their personal energy is being compromised by external forces, super-protective black tourmaline is perfect.
The crystals described here are suggestions of stones that support the integration of loving energy. However, there are other stones that could be substituted for the ones above. Work with what feels right for you.

If feelings surface that feel too much, please never be afraid to seek professional help or advice.

Monthly Dose Report

Out with the old and in with the new

December was a challenging month for many. A lot of old stuff, both individual and collective, likely a significant amount of which we thought we were done with, resurfaced for more healing/clearing. Though this is never a fun process when we are in it, the more we were able to be in our hearts and sit with what needed our love, the more it would have benefited our evolution. The month of December also marked an end to a nine year cycle, as well as the end of the calendar year. Endings were a big theme in December so naturally January is about beginnings. We are not just entering a new year, but a big, brand new energetic cycle.

My many woo woo sources all support what so many of us sense: the underlying energy has been undergoing a massive reset throughout this last nine year cycle, and now that this cycle  is complete a very new energy has started circulating and penetrating deep into every aspect of being. In the glimpses I get of the developing  energy it feels fast and super fluid compared to what most of us are accustomed to. The initial phase, that kicked off around the 26 of Dec, feels to me like ice thawing after a long deep freeze. Old, long standing energetic structures and patterns are shifting, collapsing, and breaking apart more intensely than ever before. For sensitives this can feel disconcerting and uncomfortable. It will take a bit of time to learn how best to navigate these new conditions. This fresh energy can feel overwhelming and somewhat daunting because it is unfamiliar. Our job this month is to spend time acclimatizing ourselves to it, learning how work and operate in alignment with it.

A key factor this month will be our ability to be childlike; to learn to re-experience the world from a place of newness and wonder. The more we can do this, the smoother this adjustment stage will likely be.

Another related and important quality to try to embrace this month will be detachment. When we work with new things there will inevitably be challenges and mistakes. If we are too attached to outcomes and results we may find oursleves struggling with feelings of disappointment, incompetence and frustration. If however, instead we adopt a playful, detached approach we could find ourselves gaining new skills and accessing whole new worlds of understanding and ways of being.

Because this new energy supports efforts and intentions that are aligned with the heart and soul, the more time spent connecting with these deeper parts of ourselves the more likely it will be that we see positive results. When the mind tries to take control and carry us down a path that feels negative, remember to re-center in the heart and the present moment. Focus on the simple beauty available in the now. The more we can hold a love frequency within, the more love we will see reflected around us.

Mercury will continue to be in retrograde until the 8th of Jan, with the shadow finally ending on the27th. This also supports the idea of using this month as an experimental phase, exploring new ideas and trying new ways of being. Mercury retrogrades are rarely a good time to set things in stone. Wait a while before taking serious steps that involve commitment.

So basically this month looks to be another intense one. It will be a great time to try new things, explore new ideas, and experiment, ...but for best results try to do it in a relaxed, playful, non-committal, and detached way. Be gentle with yourself, allow for mistakes. Also keep an eye out for new opportunities. This new energy cycle, if navigated well, could provide many with the boost they need to take their life to a new level. Don't rush or force things, allow them to unfold at their own pace, and trust in divine timing.

Remember to sew the seeds of love far and wide!

Update: After a discussion with a friend this afternoon I want to talk about how this shifting energy seems to be affecting relationships. Relationships that are based on inequality, insincerity, formality etc (basically anything that isn't based on real love and mutual respect) are becoming more difficult to sustain. This can feel unpleasant especially if these people feel foundational in our social network. However, clinging to people who can't love and respect us, serves no one. Don't be afraid to prune away these people and trust that more real, enriching relationships will grow in their place.

Supporting Crystals

The stones listed below will be useful to work with and keep close by this month. They will all contribute to making the process of working with new energies a more positive and uplifting experience. If you happen to have them all great, but don't worry if you don't. Each will assist in its own way. Feel free to substitute according to what feels right to you. Don't forget to play and have fun!

Check out some ideas for working with crystals.

Cerussite:

Cerussite, a lead based crystal known as the alchemist’s stone, has a very strong vibration. It helps to connect the root and crown chakras and generally assists with major life transformation by helping one adapt comfortably to new energies. (Note: as this is a lead-based crystal it is best wrapped in fabric when handling to avoid absorbing any heavy metals through the skin)

Chrysocolla:

Chrysocolla will be a good stone to keep close by. It will help us remain in alignment with our hearts and give us the confidence to face the new with a joyful disposition.

Malachite:

Malachite, often called the stone of transformation, has strong solar plexus chakra healing properties and will promote the willpower and self-responsibility needed to create significant change that is in alignment with the highest self.

Amethyst:

Amethyst will be a great stone, especially in moments of overwhelm, as its’ calm, protective energy will be soothing and comforting. It is also helpful in assisting us to transform and transmute whatever we focus our energy on, as well as being able to support the development of new habits and more positive patterns.

Labradorite:

Labradorite will also be useful as it is an excellent stone for encouraging strength and perseverance, and for its ability to nurture trust in the Universe. Because the new energy is heart aligned, it will be helpful to quiet a busy mind; Labradorite is useful for quieting the mind and for stimulating the imagination (imagination will become increasingly important as we use it to create new solutions and inspired ideas). Labradorite will also be useful for sensing what is occurring at the deeper levels, beyond the illusion.

Grounding stones (Root Chakra): Smokey Quartz, black tourmaline, garnet etc.

This month grounding stones will be extremely helpful. When energies are intense they can end up swirling around in our bodies causing physical discomfort, and overwhelm (which can result in anxiety). Grounding stones are excellent for helping to successfully move energy through us, down into the Earth, bringing a sense of relief. Root chakra stones will help us nurture a sense of ‘home’ within the new, helping us to feel supported and connected to Mother Earth.

My personal favorite grounding stone for intense energies is smokey quartz as it also absorbs stress. For those who feel that their personal energy is being compromised by external forces, super-protective black tourmaline is perfect.

*Look at last month's report below for helpful heart based stones if you need help connecting with, or healing, the heart.

December 2016

Crystal Alchemy Arts

Monthly Dose Report

This month looks to be a month where the energies will be encouraging us to focus on our heart centre. Most of us have had experiences in life that cause us to put up walls or blocks around our heart to protect its purity. Though this unconscious strategy is common, it ultimately works to disconnect us from our source of deep love and wisdom. This month appears to be a great time to go within and focus on healing our hearts. The energy surrounding our hearts is like a filter or lens; if it is not clear all that flows though will be distorted. That distortion will manifest in our surface lives as negative experiences. If we try to fix things at the surface level we usually find that when we manage to fix one problem, another will likely pop up in another area of our lives. This is a very common experience that can leave us feeling frustrated and discouraged. However, if instead of trying to fix things on the surface, we reach down and focus on the energy and feelings that are close to our hearts, the energy responsible for creating the distortion we experience in our surface lives, we create real, meaningful life change that will be in alignment with our true hearts’ desires.

While this sounds all warm and fuzzy, the process actually tends to be confronting and challenging. The feelings that are blocking our flow of heart aligned energy tend to be uncomfortable, which is why most of us avoided them in the first place. We need to be brave and willing to allow ourselves to feel the pain, shame and hurt that surrounds our heart and creates blocks in our life flow. Nothing needs to be forced, we just need to be open and create space in our lives that allows any feelings to enter our awareness so that they can be healed through the light of awareness, integration and/ or release.

When circulating energies support deep healing it can feel as though a magnifying glass is being held over all that we don’t want to see.  Our perceived flaws, fears and anxieties tend to surface for healing when touched by these loving energies. Resistance is futile and will only act to make the experience more drawn out and uncomfortable. When we embrace the process we release rather than suppress, and ultimately we will find ourselves moving more swiftly through the challenging bits.

This month is a very busy, active month on the surface and it can be easy to be distracted by social events and celebrations. So if we want to take advantage of the especially healing energies that will be flowing this month, we need to remember to make time for self-reflection and self-care. The work we do this month will set us up for the new beginning energy that will be flowing through January.

Supporting Crystals

The stones listed below will be useful to work with and keep close by this month. They will all contribute to making the process of heart healing a more positive and uplifting experience. If you happen to have them all great, but don't worry if you don't. Each will assist in its own way.

Rose quartz:

Rose quartz is the quintessential heart stone. It’s gentle, soothing energy is perfect for supporting heart work.

Scolecite:

This is a very high vibration stone that helps awaken the heart. Though for some its high vibration can initially feel a bit daunting, if we can relax and surrender to its energy we will discover a deep peaceful feeling that supports heart awareness and connection.

Kunzite:

This is another stone that is closely connected to the heart. Kunzite is associated with the highest form of blissful universal love. Using this stone in heart work is perfect for bringing in love and support from the higher realms.

Smokey Quartz:

Smokey quartz is a great support stone as well because it works to dissolve negativity, eases stress, and grounds any excess energy that may feel overwhelming.

Pyrite:

I decided to include pyrite as well as it is excellent for promoting confidence and positivity which are so important when facing our wounds.

The crystals described here are suggestions of stones that support heart healing. However, there are many other heart aligned stones that could be substituted for the ones above. Work with what feels right for you.

If feelings surface that feel too much, please never be afraid to seek professional help or advice.
